Gina Sanders


Director

Gina is a native Houstonian, but she and her family moved to Waco in 2020. Gina and her husband, David, have been married for 22 years. They have 6 children, 3 grandchildren and a rescue dog named Zia. Gina graduated from the University of Houston. She loves being a part of the STARS team and supporting mentors who are encouraging WISD students through relationship and reading. When Gina is not working for STARS, she loves spending time with her family, dates with David, hiking at Cameron Park and gardening.

Christian Ybarra


Program Coordinator

Christian Ybarra is a Waco Texas native who graduated from Waco High. He received an Associate of Arts degree from McLennan Community College in 2024. Christian and his wife Mallia were just married in April of 2026. He has always had a heart to serve and enjoys volunteering with the Young Adult Ministry and the Discipleship School at his church. Christian loves reading, playing board games, watching movies, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys! Christian values being a part of the STARS team, which allows him to empower others to serve by mentoring the next generation. He believes that reading is the door, and mentorship is the key for a brighter future for every student in Waco, Texas!

Victoria Salcedo Galvan


Program Coordinator

Victoria Galvan was born and raised in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, and moved to Waco in 2009. She is a senior at Texas Tech University, where she is majoring in Psychology.

Victoria has a heart for missions and is passionate about reaching people who have never heard the name of Jesus. She also loves children's education and is dedicated to creating environments where every child feels loved, valued, and seen.

On July 2, 2026, Victoria married Heraclio Galvan. Together, they have two fur babies: Milo, a Golden Retriever, and Hino, a Miniature Pinscher. When they're not spending time with their pups, they love hosting game nights—though things can get a little competitive!
